South Korean President Lee Jae Myung engaged in discussions with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, on Friday, focusing on strengthening the partnership between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting, held at Cheong Wa Dae, underscored the importance of ongoing collaboration in various sectors.
During the talks, President Lee emphasized the significance of the agreement reached during his state visit to the UAE last November, which aimed to foster a long-term strategic alliance between the two nations. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s commitment to prioritizing crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year and highlighted the potential for expanding cooperation in defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges.
Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reiterated the UAE’s view of South Korea as a vital partner. He noted that the bilateral relationship has grown beyond traditional areas such as energy and infrastructure and now includes investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education.
President Lee called for enhanced communication between South Korean and UAE officials to translate their cooperation into tangible projects, reinforcing mutual trust and coordination. This meeting is part of a broader expectation for further high-level dialogues, with a possible summit in South Korea on the horizon next month.
