Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the need for a more stable multipolar world order amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, Putin attributed the current global security crisis to bloc confrontation and certain countries’ attempts to gain unilateral security advantages.
Putin stated that the resolution to the conflict in Ukraine should be achieved through compromise and negotiations rather than the defeat of either side. He expressed Russia’s desire for Ukraine to maintain a neutral stance once the conflict concludes. According to Putin, the shift from a previously unipolar international system to a multipolar order necessitates greater cooperation based on the interests of different countries. He asserted that Russia is prepared to collaborate with other nations to establish a framework for a more stable international system.
In a related development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the first combat deployment of Ukraine’s domestically developed FP-7 tactical ballistic missile. While Zelenskyy did not specify the location or target against which the missile was used, he indicated that Ukraine plans to move toward production of this missile.
